Partial Rapture

The Borowitz Report describes the Partial Rapture occurring this past weekend:

In what some fundamentalist preachers are calling a “partial Rapture,” all credible candidates for the 2012 Republican nomination have mysteriously vanished from Earth.

  1. Partial Rapture (or Separate Rapture)

Partial Rapture holds that first rapture is according to readiness (Matt. 24.40-42, Luke 21.36, Rev. 3.10) at 7.9 "before the throne" before the trumpets of the Tribulation commence (8.7ff), and the first four seals are the past 20 centuries since Christ. (The first seal is Jesus on the cross giving Satan a deadly wound with a bow without the arrow because the arrow has been shot.) Seals 2 to 4 are general in nature. Would Jesus wait 2000 years to begin opening the scroll? Of course not. During the Tribulation, martyrs like the Two Witnesses (Enoch and Elijah) are resurrected 3.5 days after they go to rest. Martyrs hold a special place in God's heart. Then at the start of the last trumpet, before the bowls of wrath are poured, is the general rapture and resurrection according to completion (1 Thess. 4.14-18, Rev. 11.15, 14.14-16, 15.2-4)--a prewrath rapture and resurrection, since Christians are not appointed unto wrath. The 7th trumpet contains the 7 bowls of wrath which last 24 months since the 5th trumpet is 5 months, the 6th trumpet is 13 months, for a total of 42 months. The term "partial" refers to only some Christians will be raptured beforehand. This is in contrast to other rapture views, which hold that all Christians would be raptured in a single event. The criteria for who would be raptured are those who are accounted ready to be received to the throne and worthy. As T. Austin Sparks said, "There are advanced parties and harbingers in every sphere." The first rapture is for those like a balloon who are willing to be released and are not tied down to the world. Luke 21.36 and Rev. 3.10 as conditional statements for to be included in the first rapture: "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." "These things" pertain to the Tribulation. Are all Christians watchful and prayerful? Of course not. And IF "thou didst keep the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the HOUR of trial [itself], that hour which is to come upon the whole world [time of the Tribulation], to try them that dwell upon the earth." The parable of the 10 virgins in Matt. 25.1-13 does not pertain to partial rapture, but to the reward of returning with Christ to reign during the 1000 years (the marriage feast) with 10,000 of His saints (Jude 14,15) as only a fraction of believers (typified by Philadelphia, 1 of 7 churches being an overcomer church) receive this reward. Non-overcomers go to the domain called "Outer darkness" outside the light of reward of reigning with Christ during the 1000 years before they can enter the New City in eternity future. All ten virgins are seen as genuine believers of the same class, in which the five who were prepared enter in the millennial reign while the others go to outer darkness. In Matt. 24.40-42 is another conditional statement to be "taken" and not "left" to pass through the Trib. if the Christian is prayerful, watchful and keeping the conduct of Matt. 5-7. Both the taken and the left are saved (both have oil of the Holy Spirit in their lamps) and can't lose eternal life (OSAS) but they can lose rewards. The foremost comprehensive work done on Partial Rapture was by Watchman Nee (CFP white covers) and remains so to this day. http://www3.telus.net/trbrooks/Partial_rapture.htm Partial rapture believers include Watchman Nee, Robert Govett (1813–1901) and George Lang.
